1874 S Clack St was a Showbiz Pizza Place that opened on October 7, 1982 and closed in late 1983 (month and day unknown) with a
Rock-afire Explosion. This location is known as the very first Showbiz Pizza to close.
Unfortunately, documentation on the Abilene store falls into extreme scarcity, and no photos or videos have been found as of 2023.
This is not to be confused with the Pizza Time Theatre on
4220 N 1st St that opened on November 23rd, 1981 and closed in 1984 (month and day unknown) in the former Kmart Foods space (The Kmart would then close in 2000 and relocate across the street) with a
Balcony Stage or the current Chuck E. Cheese's location on Abilene, TX (4310 Buffalo Gap Rd)|4310 Buffalo Gap Rd that opened on November 8th, 2005 with a Small-Town Studio C and is still operating to this day.
Stages
Abilene opened with a Rock-afire Explosion. After the location's closure in 1983, their show was later sent to
Whitehall, PA for their grand opening in December. Abilene's show went under Concept Unification in around 1991, retrofitting the Rock-afire Explosion to Munch's Make Believe Band. In September 2010, their 3-Stage would be removed for the first
Concept Unification 1-Stage. In July 2023, Whitehall received the
CEC 2018 2.0 Remodel Program, resulting in the removal of their CU 1-Stage. Whitehall's CU 1-Stage would be salvaged by corporate, and is now at the
Showbiz Pizza Time Distribution Center.
History
Abilene opened on October 7, 1982 with a Rock-afire Explosion
Classic Stage. Sadly, very little information on Abilene's Showbiz Pizza is extremely hard to find, so no videos or photos have resurfaced as of today. In Late 1983 (month and day unknown, likely November), the location closed after a little over a year of operation. The building remains vacant today or has been taken up by a business. One notable thing about the location is that their stage was sent to the soon to be opened
Whitehall, PA (1000 Lehigh Valley Mall) store, which would have their opening in December. As of July 2023, that store still operates under the CEC banner, and is currently getting the 2.0 remodel as of July 12.
