Artie Antlers (Cyberamic)

Artie Antlers was a set of Cabaret Piano Cyberamic Animatronics designed after the Pizza Time Theatre character Artie Antlers that were used as retrofits/replacements to Dolli Dimples (Cabaret) Animatronics. The Animatronic was originally created for the character of Elkton John.

History

Elkton John

Elkton John was originally the name of a proposed Guest Star in 1977 for San Jose, CA (370 S Winchester Blvd) [8]. Fantasy Forest would design the cosmetics for the finalized bot for San Jose, CA (1371 Kooser Rd) in August 1979 [9]. It’s unknown when the bot was retrofitted into Artie Antlers.

Artie Antlers

Artie Antlers was first announced in December 1979 in The Pizza Times Volume 1 [10]. The Finalized Artie bots were installed in the Pizza Time Theatres in San Jose, CA (1371 Kooser Rd), Concord, CA (1975 Diamond Blvd) and Sacramento (Florin Mall), CA (7020 Stockton Blvd) sometime around May 1980 and replaced Dolli Dimple in these 3 locations. He was also planned to appear in Huntington Beach, CA (15511 Edwards St), Stockton, CA (4555 N Pershing Ave) and Citrus Heights, CA (7614 Greenback Lane) [1] [4]. In 1981, Artie Antler’s antlers were redone to replace the wooden antlers with styrofoam being produced by Riordanco. According to them, ‘Riordanco was called in to solve a similar problem with the Moose character’s wooden antlers breaking due to the sudden stops of the robotics. We made a pattern, made a cutting die, and began stamping out styrofoam antlers. We coated them with a light layer of fiberglass cloth and delivered hundreds of these light but strong antlers to the sites. None of Riordanco’s antlers ever broke.’ [2]. Several other locations would receive Artie, those locations receiving ones with an altered nose with Nostrils. Most stores began replacing Artie with The King, The Beagles, and B. B. Bubbles during 1981 and 1982. The Last confirmed Location to have Artie was Ogden, UT (3155 Harrison Blvd) in 1982 [3] with Tampa, FL (2363 E Fowler Ave) also having Artie in January 1982, but it being unknown if they kept him until closure makes it hard to say if the Store was the last with Artie [7]. The Ogden bot was replaced by The King, most likely during the Store’s 1983 Remodel [5]. At least one bot is known to have possibly been at the Sunnyvale Offices in 1982 [6].

Design

Artie Bots had Brown Fake Fur, a Blue and White Vest, A Blue Bowtie, 2 Brown Hands, A Tan snout, a Black/Brown nose, Orange Hair, and fake antlers. Later animatronics changed out the Black Nose for Nostrils. The bots also have a small row of fake teeth, later changed to a simple shape. The original Elkton John bot had fake butterfly shaped Glasses, later changed to normal-shaped fake glasses with a fake gold texture. The Bot also had more pronounced teeth, a Purple and Gold Vest, and a Black Bowtie.
