CEC September 1991 Show
CEC September 1991 Show is a showtape released in 1991 for the 3-Stage and Cyberamics. The show is known to have a lost song on it, which was removed sometime before its final release.
Production
Original Names
The original name for the showtape was called Family Times, as denoted on the APS floppy disk and its label. Segment 1’s file data has this name, and is dated July 23, 1991. Segment 2 shortens this to just ‘Family’ by July 31st. Segment 3 and the later case label confirm this change. On the release versions of the APS disks, the labels again change to ‘September 1991’, noting they both replace the original ‘Family’ and ‘Family Times’ disk. This removal of the shortened name to just the release month happened between August 26th - September 10th.
Scrapped Segment
A show called cmds./clean (Likely Comrade of Clean from a direct lyric) was scrapped from the show late into production, being already fully programmed for the 3-Stage before being scrapped. It is unknown if footage was shot and edited for the segment. The show was specifically requested removal from upper management at CEC Corporate. This is likely due to the Soviet undertones of the song, as the Soviet Union was already beginning to collapse by the release of the tape. Prior to the song being removed, the segments (excluding intermissions for clarity) were:
- Segment 1
- Responsibility
- My Good Name
- Segment 2
- Comrade of Clean
- Happy and You Know It
- This Old Man
- Segment 3
- Kid’s Song Medley
- Little Liza Jane
- She’ll Be Coming Around The Mountain
- Oh Them Golden Slippers
- Jimmy Crack Corn And I Don’t Care
- Daddy’s Daddy
The song itself was 2 minutes and 31 seconds long. The entire segment was Comrade of Clean + Happy and You Know It + This Old Man back to back, making the full length 5 minutes and 6 seconds. After Comrade of Clean’s removal, Responsibility from segment 1 would replace it, and in its own place would be Rhythm of the Night from the previous year’s CEC September 1990 Show. The Data for the show would be discovered in 2022 on the 1990-1992 APS Floppy Cases and presented without audio on July 21, 2022[1]. The audio for the segment would be discovered in mid-2023, and released on December 24th, 2023.[2] The first unveiling of the combined signals and audio would air a few minutes later.[3]

CEC TV News Safety
Narrator:
Spanning the globe.
Chuck E. Cheese:
Hold it Munch, he said spanning the globe not fanning the globe.
[Munch laughs]
Narrator:
It’s time for the Chuck E. Cheese news!
Chuck E. Cheese:
Well hello news watchers! Y’know before we start today I wanted to answer a question that lots of you have been asking. “Chuck E” you ask, “Why are you doing a news show on tv?”. Well the answers simple, see I used to be an old newspaper man. But it wasn’t working out you see, I just can’t make any money selling old newspapers.
[Newspapers crash as they land on the floor]
Chuck E. Cheese:
And now let us go directly to this special live story from Helen Henny on “Hen on The Street”.
[Scene shifts to Helen standing on the street]
Helen Henny:
Thank you Chuck E! The news here on the street is that it would be much safer to be on the sidewalk! Oh, you boys and girls should especially remember these rules about the streets: never go into the street chasing a toy or pet, always remember to stop look and listen for cars, only cross streets at the corners, and if there’s not a stop light that tells you when to cross, make sure you have a grown up help you! This is Helen Henny, your “Hen on The Street”, getting off the street right now, woah!
[Scene shifts back to Chuck]
Chuck E. Cheese:
Thanks for that important story Helen. That’s good advice for all of us. And now let’s hear from sports hound Jasper T. Jowls for some up to the minute scores!
[Scene shifts to Jasper in front of the ski ball machines]
Jasper T. Jowls:
Thanks Chuck E! And let me check on the latest scores. Let’s see, over there at the ski ball little Jesse just got 150 points! Sarah got 90. And Carter winds up for his pitch and, whoops! The ski ball is heading for the salad bar! Meanwhile over there at the whack-a-mole game, Rashad came back from a disappointing no hitter and scored a personal best of 9 whacked moles, wow! And those are the latest scores!
[Scene shifts back to Chuck]
Chuck E. Cheese:
Thanks Jasper, and that’s it for now folks! So until later, this is Chuck E. Cheese saying: that’s if something important is happening somewhere, it’s news to me!
