History
Opening and 1990's Remodel (1997-2006)
Knoxville opened as a freestanding location on March 23rd, 1998, after the closure of the
7522 Kingston Pike location (Which closed months earlier) with one of the last new 1-Stages, with Mentor, Ohio being the last new 1-Stage store to open. When the store opened, Chuck E featured his signature Tuxedo & Derby hat, Up and Down Curtains, 1990s Major Remodel and the
Phase 2 Game Package.
2005 Update (2006-2022)
In 2006, Knoxville would remodel to the 2005 Update of the 2003 'Cool Chuck' Reconfiguration / Major Remodel Initiative which would feature and expansion to the store's gameroom and new exterior facade connecting it to the newly built plaza next to it. This also featured the removal of 90's elements such as the Showroom Walls, Dim Lighting, & Record Posters only keeping the Beverages Sign from opening. Chuck's Tuxedo would be replaced in around 2008-2010 for the Avenger Outfit. Then in September 2013, Chuck's cap would be removed to reflect his Rockstar redesign. Then in 2016, he would receive a new mask. The store would remain this way until the 2.0 Remodel.
2.0 Remodel (April 2022- Present)
Starting in around April 2022, the Knoxville CEC would start it's 2017 2.0 Remodel Program|2.0 Remodel, this means removing all old artwork, redoing the exterior, painting all the walls white and gray, getting new carpet, removing the animatronic stage show and replacing it with a 2021 model
Dance Floor and
Video Wall. In around late April/ early May, they would remove their 1-Stage, being the last Munch's Make-Believe Band stage in the state of Tennessee, after
Madison removed their 3 stage in late April.
