Chuck E. Cheese's that opened on December 19, 2012 with a
Circles of Light with a
16m animatronic which is still open to this day with the 2.0 remodel.
This location should not be confused with
the El Cajon Blvd location,
San Diego Hibert St / Mira Mesa location, or
the Sports Arena location, all which opened in March 1981 and closed in 1984, opened in 1981/1982, and is still open, and opened on April 19th, 1993, which is also still open.
This location is one of the 5 CEC's in the San Diego area.
History
This location opened on December 19, 2012 in the Marketplace At The Grove shopping center with a Circles Of Light, 16m, it was the 6th store to open with a Circles Of Light, 16m, and the first Circles Of Light in the state of California. In early 2024, The location received the
CEC 2.0 Refresh Remodel Program and the animatronic was removed for a Dance Floor.
Stages
This location opened with a Circles Of Light, 16m, and was the first COL in California. By June 2022, the Chuck E. animatronic was in disrepair, with only the movements in his body working (arm movements, body movements, and head movements) and the movements in his face (mouth, eye turns, and eyelid movement) being broken. In early 2024, the animatronic was removed for a Dance Floor during the San Diego store's 2.0 refresh remodel, while keeping the Circles of Light itself. They were the last Circles Of Light in California to have an animatronic after the
Los Angeles (2706 Wilshire Blvd) location closed back on September 13, 2020.
