Exterior, May 2022
2821 Pacific Coast Hwy, Store #358 (also known as
Pacific Coast or
PCH) was a
Showbiz Pizza Place that opened on March 24, 1983 with a Rock-Afire Explosion, which is still open to this day.
Torrance (Pacific Coast) converted to a Chuck E. Cheese around 1991, converted to the Studio C Alpha in 2000, received a
Chuck E. Live Stage in 2016, and then received 2.0 in October 2021. It is located in the 'Town&Country' shopping center.
This location should not be confused with the
Torrance, CA (16920 Prairie Ave) location, which was a former Pizza Time Theatre that opened in Fall 1983 (month and day unknown) and is still open to this day. Torrance is one of the 2 cities to have a Pizza Time Theatre and Showbiz Pizza within the same city, like with
San Antonio.
History
Torrance (Pacific Coast) opened on March 24th, 1983 as ShowBiz Pizza Place with a Rock-Afire Explosion. They would receive very little bits of the 1986 SPT Remodel Program|1988 Remodel in 1989-1990 removing old Showbiz decor for new decor. In 1991, Torrance (Pacific Coast) received Concept Unification and also fully received the 1988 remodel which removed the Rock-Afire for the 3-Stage, Neon Signage, Blue and White Awnings, & some checkers around the store, and the change and renaming of the exterior. The text on the exterior was taken from a Pizza Time Theatre that closed. Torrance (Pacific Coast) underwent another remodel in the Mid 1990's which involved the removal of CU decor for the Record Posters, & some checkers around the store, and the removal of the ball pit for SkyTubes. The exterior remained the same. In the Late 90's, Torrance (Pacific Coast) received the Phase 2 remodel which involved removing 1990's store art including the record posters, a logo and text change to the exterior, some 1990's elements, and added Toddler Zone. The 3-Stage was then removed for the Studio C Alpha in 2000. When the 1995 logo was installed, the 1988 remodel logo is gone but the label scar of the logo (1988 Remodel) was still there. In January 2010, Torrance (Pacific Coast) received the 2005 update to the 2003 'Cool Chuck' Reconfiguration / Major Remodel Initiative which removing all 1990's store art, Balcony Seating, Showroom Walls, adding purple walls. Strangely, the exterior kept the Phase 3 look although the 'Chuck E. Cheese's' text changed from red, yellow, and orange, to just pure red. In 2020, Torrance (Pacific Coast) received the 2.0 remodel which removed the Alpha for the Dance Floor and also repainted the part behind the logo making the 1988 Remodel logo labelscar completely gone. As of January 2023, Torrance (Pacific Coast) still has the 2.0 Remodel and 2021 Model Dance Floor.
Stages
Originally when the store opened, they had a Rock-Afire Explosion, as all other Showbiz locations had. In around 1991, Torrance (Pacific Coast) would undergo Concept Unification, turning the RAE into Munch's Make Believe Band. In 2000, the 3-Stage was removed for the Studio C Alpha stage. In 2020, Torrance (Pacific Coast) received 2.0 removing the Alpha for the Dance Floor.
