820 W Hind Dr was a Chuck E. Cheese's located in Honolulu, HI in the Aina Haina Shopping Center which opened on February 15th, 1983 as a Showbiz Pizza Place and closed as a Chuck E. Cheese's sometime around Summer 2009.

Stages

This location in particular had the shortest recorded stage height to be used in a Showbiz Pizza Place location, being the bare minimum of around 10 Inches.

In March 1991, this location underwent Concept Unification and also was never subject to hiding the "In Pizza We Trust" on the Wink, removing the Munch Jr. spot, or replacing the original carpet the show was installed with. The show received the updated 3-Stage cosmetics created by Cowan Costumes but they didn't receive Jasper's until sometime after 2003, even though its initial release was in 1999.

In around 2004-2005, Chuck's Tuxedo & Derby was replaced with the Cool Chuck outfit; which he wore until the store's closure.

By 2006, the condition of the center and right stages had severely worsened, which it's condition would remain up until the store's closure.

In 2009 the location closed and relocated to a newer location. The franchise bought over several fixtures as any other relocation would. One of these fixtures also happened to be the Chuck E. Cheese neon sign used on the 3-Stage. It currently sits on display in the merchandise area of the new store.

History

Pre-CEC

Before it became a Showbiz Pizza Place, it was built in 1950 as a retail market, which explains the short ceiling height of this location. [1]

Chuck E. Cheese

This location opened on February 15th, 1983 as the only franchised Showbiz Pizza Place in Hawaii. The location would remain like this until undergoing Concept Unification sometime around March 1991.

In 1998 the plan to remodel the location was created. It is currently unknown when or if they ever standardized by a Showbiz Pizza Time remodel previously.[1] This would be one of the last major remodels that this location would have until it's closure.

Closure

In July 2007, the location's shopping center was sold to a California company, which planned on redeveloping the shopping center.[2] This redevelopment led up to multiple anchors in the shopping center closing to make way for future redevelopment, including this store, as it was announced in March 2008 that their lease would no longer be renewed,[3] eventually closing down around Summer 2009 when their lease finally expired. This store since then relocated to 1199 Dillingham Blvd and reopened on August 29th, 2009.
