History
Springfield opened its doors on April 22nd, 1982 as the 4th Showbiz Pizza store in Illinois (4th after Darien, Bloomingdale, Arlington Heights). It was originally and currently a corporate-owned store. Like many other ShowBiz Pizza locations, it had a typical SPP layout seen in many other stores across the United States and would eventually receive the 1988 remodel years after it would open. Although some little documentation exists back in the ShowBiz days, it can be determined that Springfield was one of several locations to receive an Uncle Klunk show package (and a Santa Claus retrofit package as well) sometime after opening. Like many ShowBiz locations in the late 1980s, Springfield received the Showbiz Pizza Campground upgrade.

In around 1991, Springfield received Concept Unification which converted the show to Munch's Make Believe Band. In around the Mid-Late 1990's, Springfield received either Phase 1 or Phase 2 remodel which removed some early 90's decor and added new decor and SkyTubes. Springfield remained this way until Early 2011, when they received the 2005 remodel and the CU 1-Stage after Whitehall, PA (1000 Lehigh Valley Mall) (Which received it in around late 2010), and before Columbus, GA (3201 Macon Rd) (Which received it later in 2011). This also included tearing down the Showroom Walls & balcony seating, removing 90s decor, expanding the store, adding bright florescent lighting, & adding purple walls. As of January 2023, they still have the CU 1-Stage & the 2005 Remodel.

Originally, Springfield featured a Rock-Afire Explosion, as all other Showbiz locations did. Unfortunately, there are some photos but no videos to exist of Springfield with the Rock afire, or as a ShowBiz in general.

On June 11th, 2024, the store would begin its 2.0 Remodel. On June 14th, 2024, Springfield would receive parts from Whitehall, PA's CU-1 Stage and Laurel, MD's 3-Stage from the SPT Distribution Center. Once the parts arrived, mechanical repairs began taking place on the show. The purple walls would be repainted to white and the Gameroom TVs were installed in the store.
Sometime in 1991, Springfield received Concept Unification, converting the Rock afire into the Munch’s Make Believe Band 3-Stage.

2369 McArthur Ave (current address 2369 S MacArthur Blvd), Store #47 is a Chuck E. Cheese’s that opened on April 22, 1982, as a corporate owned ShowBiz Pizza Place with the Rock-afire Explosion and is still open to this day undergoing their 2.0 remodel, with the last CU 1-Stage It is located in the Town and Country Shopping Center. In May of 2024, CEC Entertainment would announce that Springfield would be one of 5 locations to keep its stage and be designated as a Munch's Make Believe Band Residency.

History

Springfield opened its doors on April 22nd, 1982, as the 4th ShowBiz Pizza Place in Illinois (4th after Darien, Bloomingdale, Arlington Heights). It was originally and currently a corporate-owned store. Like many other ShowBiz locations, it had a typical ShowBiz layout. Although some little documentation exists back in the ShowBiz days, it can be determined that Springfield was one of several locations to receive an Uncle Klunk show package (and a Santa Claus retrofit package). Like many ShowBiz locations in the late 1980s, Springfield received the Showbiz Pizza Campground upgrade and the 80s remodel.

In 1991, Springfield received Concept Unification. This converted the show to Munch's Make Believe Band. In around the Mid-Late 90s, Springfield would receive [Phase 1 (1994)|Phase 1]] and Phase 2 which removed some early 90s decor, added new decor, and added SkyTubes. Springfield remained this way until Early 2011, when they received the 2005 remodel and the CU 1-Stage. This also included tearing down the Showroom walls & balcony seating, removing 90s decor, expanding the store, adding bright florescent lighting, & adding purple walls.
