History
Wichita opened on December 16th, 1991, as the second Chuck E. Cheese in Kansas and as a franchise-owned store. It opened a year later after Topeka, KS (2215 SW Wanamaker Rd). Wichita opened with the 1988 remodel and originally featured the Road Stage, the Blue and White Awnings, the CU decor, and the checkers around the store. In the mid 1990s, Wichita received a minor Phase 1 remodel removing older CU decor for the Record Posters and Colored Chase Lights. In the late 1990's, Wichita would receive the Phase 2 remodel removing older decor for newer decor and removing the ball pit for SkyTubes. Wichita would be acquired by corporate on September 16, 1996. Wichita would remain like this until in Early 2007 when they received the 2005 update to the 2003 "Cool Chuck" Reconfiguration / Major Remodel Initiative removing older 90s decor for newer decor, removing the Showroom Walls, Balcony Seating, removing the "Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza" road sign shape for the prototype 05 road sign, and expanded to fit in more games and tables. Wichita would remain like this until in September 2022, when they would receive the 2.0 remodel, this involved removing the Road Stage and replacing it with a Dance Floor + Video Wall. Currently, as of March 2023, Wichita still has the 2.0 remodel and Dance Floor + Video Wall.
Stages
Wichita premiered with a Road Stage, as did other CEC locations between 1990 and 1992. Initially, there were no curtains (which was common in the early years of Road Stages), though Wichita later received theirs in the late 1990's (and were removed after 2005). The Chuck E. Cheese Cyberamic first wore a tuxedo, then was given Cool Chuck clothes, and finally Avenger clothing. The Road Stage remained until Wichita's 2.0. remodel in September 2022.
Originally, Wichita featured a Road Stage. Like all Road Stages when they first opened, Chuck wore his Tuxedo & Derby outfit. Also, the stage featured no curtains like any other Road Stage from when it was first installed. Unlike Topeka, it is unknown if Wichita ever received curtains as photos from 2010 show no curtains on the show.

In September 2022, Wichita would replace their Road Stage with a Dance Floor and Video Wall, as part of their 2.0 remodel. It was one of 2 Road Stages in Kansas. The other road stage was Topeka, KS (2215 SW Wanamaker Rd).

As of March 2023, Wichita still has the 2.0 Remodel and Dance Floor + Video Wall.

3223 N Rock Rd, Store #962 is a Chuck E. Cheese that opened on December 16th, 1991. It was the second Chuck E. Cheese's to open in Kansas and remains open to this day. Wichita is a free-standing store located next to a Goodyear and a Subway.

History

Wichita opened its doors on December 16th, 1991, a year after the opening of Topeka, KS (2215 SW Wanamaker Rd). Like Topeka before it, Wichita was initially franchised, furnished with the SPT 1988 Remodel Program, and premiered with a Road Stage. On September 16, 1996, Wichita and Topeka became corporate-owned, both undergoing the SPT 1992 Remodel Program around the same time.

In the late 2000's, Wichita slightly expanded in square footage as part of the CEC 2005 Remodel Program. Interestingly, the store's road sign was updated with the 2003 Thumb / Avenger Chuck hybrid logo, while the exterior bore the finalized Avenger logo on the front and sides of the building. As part of this remodel, the previous fixtures and showroom walls were removed, though the Road Stage remained. Aside from the rotation of game packages, Wichita was otherwise unmodified throughout the 2010's.

In September 2022, Wichita underwent the CEC 2018 2.0. Remodel Program, overhauling the infrastructure and removing the Road Stage. The 2.0. Remodel has been the current iteration of Wichita ever since.
