Colerain Exterior (2019)

8801 Colerain Ave, Store #561 was a Chuck E. Cheese's location that opened on November 11, 1981[1], as a ShowBiz Pizza Place with a Rock-afire Explosion, and closed as a Chuck E. Cheese's with a 3-Stage on September 22, 2019.

Stages

The store opened with the Rock-afire Explosion on November 11, 1981. Colerain started Concept Unification on April 28, 1991[2], which began the process of converting the Rock Afire Explosion to the 3-Stage.

Chuck's Stage

His mask was replaced in 2002 with the plastic mask, Tux was replaced in late 2002 with Cool Chuck, which was then replaced with Avenger in February 2011. Chuck's latex feet were replaced between Spring 2005 and 2007. The CEC Neon sign was removed between Fall 2004 and Spring 2005. The "Cheese" part of the neon was removed prior sometime between the Holiday of 2002 and the Fall of 2004. The TV Light and TV Shell were removed and replaced with a new big box TV between 2006-2007. Eventually the TV on Chuck's stage was removed in the Summer of 2018 and replaced with a Flat-Screen TV.

Center Stage

All latex masks were replaced by 2002. Helens Latex Legs were removed/replaced with the fabric variant in October 2016. Jasper had his latex hands and guitar replaced between 2006-2007. The curtains were removed between Spring 2007 and 2008, Munch Jr was removed between the 1990s-2002. The Munch's Make Believe Band sign was removed between April 16th, 2013, and October 26th, 2013. Moon was eventually removed in Late 2017 with Buildings mask and mouth mech being removed between May 2018 and July 2018. The mech was then left to rot behind the backdrops until it was trashed with the rest of the 3-stage on September 22, 2019.

Pasqually's Stage

The Latex mask was removed by 2002 being replaced with a plastic mask. Pizzacam was removed by late 2002. The stage stayed in decent condition until around 2011 when the condition of the stage improved majorly this was until the Summer of 2016 when the tech left Colerain leading to the stage falling apart. The stage slightly improved by August 2018 but the store then closed 13 months later on September 22, 2019, ending the stage's almost 40-year history.

History

The Colerain Ave Showbiz Pizza Place opened up November 11, 1981 opening in front of the former Gold Circle Mall as the 2nd Showbiz Pizza Store (2nd after Sharonville). The store featured "The Show Room, Sports Room, 60 Arcade games, a merry-go-round, and "a magic cave"." Fun Fact Colerain had unique showroom walls which unlike normal stores had an entrance in the middle of the wall. They would receive Klunk in 1983 as part of The Amazing Uncle Klunk Traveling Show (Event). This store remained unchanged until between 1988 and 1991 when the store was remodeled, gaining the checkered patterns on the walls, oil paintings, and removing much of the Showbiz aesthetic scheme.

In April 1991 the store received Concept Unification. The store received the 90s remodel in 1993. The store would remain majorly untouched until August 2009 the store would receive the 2005 Remodel which would include a major facelift, removing the showroom walls, all the old 90s décor, painting some walls purple, replacing the dim lighting with fluorescents, and expanding outwards into the parking lot.

In April 2016, the Skytubes were removed. The Toddler Zone fence was removed in late 2017. On September 22, 2019, Colerain would close after 38 years due to the owner of the property increasing rent on the lease and CEC no longer wanting to spend the amount on the store. As of 2023, the store is still vacant and awaiting future development. After closing some pieces of art were sent to 4394 Eastgate Square Dr. The posters gained were "Grand Marshal of Games", "Ambassador of Fun" and two Red CEC Tickets.
