Showroom, 1984[1]

Concord, CA (1975 Diamond Blvd, Building D-100)[2] was the third Pizza Time Theatre location that opened sometime within the week of May 28th - April 3rd of 1979[3][4] with a Portrait Stage and two floors, which closed in January of 1994 with a Road Stage.[5]

It should not be confused with Concord, CA (1611 Willow Pass Rd), which opened on June 18th, 2009 with a Studio C 2000, 16m and is still operating to this day.

Stages

The store was the first location to open with Cyberamics, with them being on a Portrait Stage. Dolli Dimples was on the second floor Cabaret. Eventually she was swapped to Artie Antlers and later B.B. Bubbles.[5]

History

The store would open in May of 1979 at the Willows Shopping Center with its manager being Rob Schmidt.[6] Its opening would be the first location built from a proper blank venue, rather than a brokerage or co-op market as with the first two locations. Gene Landrum explained that this was due to not finding a building with the right space, as the company preferred remodeling existing properties.[7]

The showroom, Fantasy Forest arcade, and kitchen would be located on the first floor. The Cabaret and additional seating were on the second. Both stories had the Cheese Crawl, with a slide connecting them together.[6] The front would include a 'rathole' entrance for kids.[8][7]

In November/December of 1979, the Pizza Time Theatre 1979 Spot commercial would be filmed at the location.

In May of 1980 the assistant manager of the store, Sheri Walther, would win the Pizza Times "Name this Newsletter" contest alongside two others who suggested the same name, with all three splitting the prize. They would replace their logo in 1981.

The store would appear on KTVU on March 26, 1981.[9]

On May 28th, the Martinez News Gazette would announce the winners of their second annual Animal Coloring Contest. Entrant's drawings would be plastered around local businesses in the area, including this location.[10]

Sometime in 1990/1991 they received the 1988 Remodel which added checkers around the building, added new posters, replaced the logo on the outside, and removed the Portrait Stage for a Road Stage.

The store would close in January of 1994 for unknown reasons, being replaced by an Old Navy which is still around to present day.
